This is a bit of a trial and also shows one of my many and varied interests. For years we've heard about attractor flies or those flies that are brightly colored and often from many years ago. Perhaps they were not attractors but rather matching a particular "hatch!"
The Micky Finn, the Edson Tiger, a Red and Yellow Deceiver, Clouser or Muddler and more might just match this Gilt Darter found in midwest/east streams.
